It seems that the ongoing Carlos Ghosn saga has greatly affected not only Nissan but Renault as well. According to a Reuters report, Renault shares have fallen to a six-year low, and rumors that Nissan could be preparing for a split with the French automotive manufacturer have recently come to light.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance has a long-standing history that spans two decades, but with things seeming to have taken a turn for the worse—with Ghosn throwing serious allegations at Nissan and the Alliance as a whole—the future of the partnership is now in question. Reports have come out that Renault has recently seen a 3.2% drop in shares, and the current ordeal has led to heightened doubt among investors.
In light of these reports, however, Nissan has released a statement and clarified that it will not be dissolving its said venture with Renault.
“Recently, there have been speculative international media reports on Nissan’s stance towards the Alliance. Contrary to the assertions in the articles, Nissan is in no way considering dissolving the Alliance,” the official statement reads.
