Forget ‘kaya bang umakyat ng Baguio?’ When you’re talking electric vehicles, the question becomes, ‘Kaya bang umabot sa Baguio?’

Northbound travelers with EVs need not suffer through range anxiety anymore: The newly opened Shell Mobility TPLEX Junction in Rosario, La Union, now has the country’s second Shell Recharge fast-charging station.

The site, which is about 250km north of Metro Manila, is equipped to charge four EVs simultaneously. It features a 180kW DC ultra-rapid charger with two CCS2 charging points that can top up compatible vehicles from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes, as well as two 22kW AC charging points for those who don’t mind waiting a while longer for their EVs to recharge.

Shell, which now calls itself an energy company instead of an oil and petrolem company, opened the first Shell Recharge site at Shell SLEX Mamplasan in July 2022. According to the official website, the use of the ultra-rapid charger costs P65 per minute.

“To ensure a seamless charging experience for long-distance EV journeys, it’s crucial to have fast, high-performance charging infrastructure and on-site convenience amenities,” said Randy Dell Valle, vice president for mobility at Shell Pilipinas Corporation. “Shell is ready to evolve its Mobility offers aligned to the needs of our customers today and the future.”
