"The year 2015 will be our year!"
Nissan Philippines president and managing director Antonio Zara made this bold declaration at the launch of the all-new NP300 Navara on Monday. The executive is bullish that the company has the capability to bring back the Japanese car brand's days of glory, revealing that Nissan aims to grow its sales in our market by 40% this year.
And to help meet this target, the company introduced the new-generation pickup truck. "Our goal is to be number three in the pickup segment," Zara revealed. "And to achieve this, our estimate is to get a 15-20% market share. Depending on the overall sales, that's about 300 to 400 units per month."
The executive assured potential Navara buyers that Nissan will be able to meet the market demand with its supply. He reiterated that the Philippine-market Navara's production began in December 2014 at Nissan's Bang Na plant in Thailand. Dealers are already accepting reservations, and deliveries will start by the end of the month.
With Nissan Philippines being very optimistic about its 2015 sales figures, we're now curious about the company's next product offering. Zara remained tight-lipped when asked about other vehicle launches. "This will not be the last time we will invite you to a car launch," he said. So stay tuned for more updates.
For now, do you think Nissan Philippines will hit its sales target for the Navara given the pricing?
