Another major flyover, this time in Manila City, is set to be partially closed for repairs.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that the Legarda Flyover will be partially closed from July 6 until November 6, 2024. This is to repair 19 of the structure’s damaged expansion joints, the agency said in a recent Facebook post.

According to the DPWH, the Legarda Flyover’s westbound side heading to Legarda will be the first part to be closed to traffic. Once the initial phase is finished, the rest of the structure’s lanes, including its eastbound lanes heading towards Magsaysay Boulevard, will follow.
The DPWH is advising motorists to steer clear of the area and use alternate routes while repairs are ongoing. We’d heed the agency’s advice. If you’re familiar with the place, you’d know that traffic there can get pretty horrible even without the Legard Flyover’s partial closure.
This isn’t the only major bridge repair in Metro Manila that's been scheduled, either. Not long ago, the DPWH announced that the Guadalupe Bridge would undergo repairs in September. The Magallanes Flyover in Makati City, meanwhile, will undergo repair work starting in October.
