Here’s the traffic advisory you’ve been waiting for: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is suspending the implementation of the expanded number coding scheme on select days for the upcoming holidays.
Specifically, number coding is suspended on December 25 (Monday), December 26 (Tuesday), and January 1 (Monday). The suspension applies to areas under the jurisdiction of the MMDA. On days when number coding will be implemented, window hours will be retained.

Meanwhile, Makati City has not released any advisory. The city implements number coding from 7am to 7pm with no window hours.
The MMDA warned earlier this month to expect heavy traffic this coming weekend as people flock out of Metro Manila for the holidays. To help manage traffic congestion, the agency has extended the duty hours of its traffic enforcers, deployed a ‘strike force’ against illegally parked vehicles blocking inner roads, suspended specific types of roadwork, and adjusted mall hours (11am to as late as 11pm) for major establishments.
For those flying out via the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), make sure to allot sufficient travel time to avoid missing your flight. On December 21, roads around the airport saw heavy traffic buildup, and it’s expected to get worse this weekend. According to the advisory issued by Philippine Airlines (PAL): “Plan to arrive at the airport at least three hours before your domestic flight, or at least four hours before your international flight.”
