A report from Cebu Daily News shares that the Cebu City Council recently approved a resolution that targets the installation of at least two EV chargers at every fuel station across the city. This was prompted by the “worsening traffic congestion” in Cebu, which further stressed the need for alternative means of transportation.
The resolution comes at an interesting time, as the city has been continuously modernizing its modes of transport. In 2025, ACMobility activated its first 16 EV chargers in Cebu, while V-Green has committed to rolling out charging stations and battery-swapping sites later this year.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. then confirmed that the first phase of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit system is now operational, offering citizens another public transportation line. Before that, the Love Bus was launched with a complimentary route between Talisay City–Anjo World and Cebu City.

Furthermore, Marcos Jr. stated during his recent State of the Nation Address that he aims to have half of the country’s cars be electric by 2040. To achieve that, a nationwide EV charging network will need to be in place to support EV owners and drivers.
The Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry has set a short-term goal of 66,500 charging stations by 2028, and having two chargers at every existing fuel station may help achieve that figure. Some of these will probably need to be DC fast chargers so as not to crowd fuel stations with queued EVs, but that will also depend on the energy capability of the location.
