Ford Philippines already has a vast lineup of pickups here in our market, but it chose to bring in yet another truck nevertheless. This time, though, it’s not just a mere Ranger that was launched here—what just arrived is no less than the mighty F-150.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen this full-sized pickup sold on our side of the globe, and we reckon a lot of our readers are eager to see what the modern version of this truck is all about. If you’re one of them, then read on, because we’ve put together here everything that you need to know about 2020 Ford F-150.
Exterior
The F-150 is just a flat-out massive truck, measuring 5,890mm long, 2,029mm wide, and 1,961mm tall (1,920 for the 4x2 variant) with a 3,683mm wheelbase—that’s basically bigger than any pickup in the Ford stable. This colossal physique gives the truck that brooding appeal that matches even that of the Ranger Raptor’s.
The pickup’s exterior is headlined by a massive grille that’s flanked by equally large LED headlamps. It sits on 20-inch aluminum wheels clad in 275/55 R20 all-season tires. Opting for the higher trim F-150 gets you some gray accents up front, chrome trims on the sides, and 20-inch aluminum alloys with all-terrain rubber.
Interior
Inside, the F-150 gets an abundance of soft-touch materials just as you would from a Ford truck at this price point. The tiller, dash, center console, and side panels have all been stitched in leather. With the higher-spec variant, the truck also gets black ash wood accents around the cabin, along with metallic door-sill inserts.
Also worth noting here are the 10-way power adjustable leather seats up front, with the driver’s seat sporting an additional memory function. .
Engine and specs
Under the hood of this full-size pickup is the lone option of a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that generates 375hp at 5,000rpm and 637Nm of torque at 3,500rpm—sorry folks, there’s no diesel here. If this setup sounds familiar, then that’s because this is the same engine available in the Ford Expedition here in our market. The F-150’s powertrain, however, is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains have been made available here.
Underneath, the F-150 gets ventilated disc brakes all around. It boasts a long-spindle, double wishbone, coil-over-shock independent front suspension. It has also been equipped with gas-pressurized twin-tube shock absorbers up front and staggered, outboard-mounted shock absorbers out back.
This behemoth also packs an enormous gas tank underneath all the metal, as fuel capacity is listed at 98 liters.
Extra features
The 2020 Ford F-150 also has a lot going for it in terms of added features. In the entertainment department, it gets an 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system with AppLink, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility. Sound is delivered by a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen setup with a B&O subwoofer. Other amenities include two smart-charging USB ports and a 12V power socket.
In the safety department, the F-150 gets the Ford Co-Pilot 360 suite of safety features. This includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, dynamic brake support, and adaptive cruise control. It also gets blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, trailer tow monitoring, lane-keep assist, and auto high-beam headlamps, among many others.
Another nifty bonus included here is Ford’s active park assist, which enables automatic parallel parking with the simple push of a button. Do note that all these extra features mentioned here come as standard across the F-150 range.
