Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has just launched the new Veloz, marking the entry of yet another people-hauler in this seven-seater-crazy market of ours.
The Veloz, as some of you may know, was once the top-of-the-line variant of the Avanza range. Now, the Veloz has been introduced as a standalone model that slides right above the Avanza in the Toyota stable.
Toyota’s newest offering brings with it classier styling, a more premium-looking interior, and a boatload of added tech. It does, however, pack the same engine as the Avanza: a 1.5-liter 2NR-VE four-cylinder gasoline powertrain that’s capable of 105hp and 138Nm of torque. This can only be had with a continuously variable transmission.

The new Veloz starts at P1.185 million for the G variant. Opt for the higher V variant, and you’re looking at a P1.225 million SRP. With the latter, you get Toyota Safety Sense features—something that isn’t available in the Avanza lineup. You also get a wireless charging pad and a panoramic view monitor to help out with parking duties.
Top Gear Philippines was recently invited to a quick preview of this new Toyota, and our very own assistant managing editor Jason Tulio was able to take it out for a spin. If you want to learn what he thinks of this new seven-seater, you can click the video embedded above.
