If you’re an avid follower of the recent happenings in the global automotive industry, then you’ve probably seen the name Rimac Automobili a lot on cyberspace lately. That’s because the carmaker has just made headlines with the big reveal of its much-awaited electric hypercar, the Nevera—formerly known to us as the C_Two.

Okay, we already know this much about the Rimac Nevera. We’ve gathered you all here today, people of the Internet, not for that but to talk about something rather trivial: the proper pronunciation of Rimac.

‘Ree-mak,’ right? Well, that’s accepted, but if you want to be a stickler for proper pronunciation, it’s not as straightforward as that. The Croatian company, named after founder Mate Rimac, is actually pronounced as ‘ree-mats.’ If you didn’t know that before, don’t worry—some of us here are guilty, too.

But trivia time doesn’t end there. Interestingly, the founder’s name is also as confusing to pronounce. Mate Rimac isn’t read as ‘meyt ree-mats’—his first name is pronounced ‘mah-tay.’

‘Mah-tay Ree-mats,’ then, is the right way to say it. If you’ve stayed long enough to reach this end, good for you. If you’re that interested in Rimac, you might as well read Top Gear’s initial review of it, then—click these blue words for that.
