Here at Top Gear Philippines, we love showcasing people’s DIY projects. The YouTube channel OEM Stez posted the meticulous restoration of his 90 Series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, and the level of detail and craftsmanship left us in awe.
This 1999 Prado had been purchased from its first owner. Even though it hadn’t been driven off-road, the car still had an assortment of issues. According to a different video posted on the same channel, he had to fix a transmission leak, tackle braking issues, and give the engine a much-needed tune-up before proceeding to the most satisfying bit—the detailing.

Calling it ‘detailing’ is an understatement, though. The video shows a complete restoration. From vacuum cleaning and steaming the seats to drilling out deep rust and fabricating the bodywork, the entire video scratches a certain part of our brains just right. He even replaced the leather wrap on the steering wheel.

The 90 Series Land Cruiser was—and still is—a great platform for off-roading. So it comes as no surprise that this Prado was purchased for that exact reason. And while the idea of taking a newly detailed car to the rocky trails might send most people driving back home, with this guy’s restoration skills, we don’t think dents or scratches would be an issue.

The restoration project took 102 hours. You can watch the condensed 34-minute video below. Tell us in the comments: if you could do a restoration project, what car would you like to bring back to life?
