In the automotive landscape today, crossovers of nearly every size between hatchback and SUV dominate the scene. There’s no denying that for most buyers, it strikes the best balance of size, comfort, and efficiency. But if you trace back the lineage of the crossover family tree, you’ll find a certain Toyota at the very heart of it all: the RAV4.
This is the original crossover’s sixth generation, and it’s finally here in the Philippine market. Our very own Leandre Grecia actually got the chance to put it through its paces recently, and his first impressions are glowing. Is the all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 is shaping up to be a hybrid home run for the Japanese carmaker? We’ve got all the details for you right here.

Exterior of the 2026 Toyota RAV4

Common across both variants is Toyota’s modern design language: lots of sharp, angular lines that still manage to carve out a muscular body. There’s also the C-shaped headlights reminiscent of the ones found on the Camry. Despite these shared elements, each trim level showcases a different personality due to divergent styling cues.
The ADV lives up to its name by taking on a more rugged appearance. The front bumper features a bulkier design with a two-part grille, loosely echoing certain Hilux variants. Chunkier tires also wrap the 18-inch wheels, and a roof rails run along the vehicle’s top.
In terms of dimensions, the RAV4 ADV measures at 4,620mm long, 1,880mm wide, and 1,745mm tall. It rides on a 2,690mm wheelbase, with 201mm of ground clearance.

The LTD switches things up by taking on a sleeker look with a hexagon-pattern front grille that’s reminiscent of the Corolla Cross. It rides on 20-inch wheels and low profile tires, and trades the roof rails for a bigger sunroof. Measurements are also a touch more compact compared to the base model: 20mm shorter, 25mm narrower, and 50mm less tall (ground clearance and wheelbase remain unchanged.)

Sitting in the front row, it’s impressive just how much space there is for all your stuff. You’ve got cubbies, shelves, and cupholders for days in this cabin. All the rectangle and hexagon shapes also contribute to a rugged design language.
Both trim levels share much of the common equipment like the brand new 12.9-inch infotainment system, 60/40 flat-folding rear seats, and JBL sound system, but some creature comforts are reserved for the LTD. We’re talking about proper leather seats (base model has synthetic leather), driver heads-up display, and electrochromic rear view mirror, among other goodies.
Engine performance of the 2026 Toyota RAV4

By now you might have noticed that much of the equipment between the ADV and LTD trims are common between the two, and the power unit is no different. The 2026 RAV4 is powered by a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain (which generates a maximum of 221Nm of torque) connected to two electric motors (front motor maxes out at 208Nm, rear motor at 121Nm). Combined system output is rated at a beefy 236hp. The hybrid power unit is mated to an e-CVT, and the gas tank carries 55 liters of gasoline.
Extra features of the 2026 Toyota RAV4

Something else common across both 2026 RAV4 trims: safety equipment. All RAV4s carry a spare tire and a full complement of airbags (front, passenger, and curtain airbags) to cover worst case scenarios. Additionally, Toyota Safety Sense, the Japanese carmaker’s suite of driver assists, are available on both trims (except for the Adaptive High Beam System exclusive to the LTD).
