The Yaris Cross has always been one of the more stylish Toyotas out there, and it’s been that way since the model was launched a few years back. It’s sleek and classy, and it looks just right. We believe a lot of you guys share our sentiments on this one.
But what if we told you that this design would work with different body styles? It sounds wild, but it looks decent on a pickup. If you don’t believe us, check out this concept render from artist Kleber Silva (KDesign AG on Behance).

He’s taken the entire front end of the Yaris Cross and slapped it onto the body of a truck, and it just...works. It looks more aggressive, albeit a bit more cluttered than the Hilux. The artist has also taken the same wheels from the original Yaris Cross and fitted them onto the truck, and not without shodding them with chunkier tires. Phew.

Unlike the Raize pickup concept that Silva also created years back, the Yaris Cross truck doesn’t completely retain its rear end. Instead, the headlights protrude towards the sides, and the tailgate looks clean. There’s a healthy amount of chunky black plastic underneath to make the truck look a bit more macho. Inside the cabin, the artist has made no changes whatsoever.

Surely, if Toyota were to build this, it wouldn’t be based on the same platform as the Yaris Cross. It could be based on the IMV platform and get a turbodiesel under the hood, or it could be electrified like the all-new Hilux.
There’s a concern about the name, though. The ‘Cross’ is there to indicate that this is the crossover version of the Yaris, so ‘Yaris Cross pickup’ sounds quite odd. What about Yaris Truck? Yes? No?
