No doubt you’re seeing a few 2016 Honda Civics on the road by now, and you might be wondering, are they good? Are both models worth the P1 million-plus price tag?

The quick answer is yes, the new Civic is good—and that goes for both variants. They’re large, roomy, comfortable, quiet and chock-full of wonderful gadgets. It’s hard not to be dazzled by the digital gauges once they do their sequence. And using Apple CarPlay makes you feel like you’re in a premium European car.

But it’s when you get a taste of these Hondas on open roads that you truly appreciate them. Inevitably, the 1.8 E is a beat behind its turbocharged brother, but it’s not a slowpoke. A decent amount of excitement can still be derived from its 139hp 1.8-liter engine.

Of course if you’re willing to spend P310,000 more, you should really opt for the 1.5-liter turbo mill. Not just for its heady 171 horses, but also because you’ll never get tired of looking at the stance of 17-inch RS-design wheels and that racy spoiler.

We made a quick video depicting our memorable experience with Honda’s rejuvenated compact sedan. Enjoy!
