The Prius is somehow the most exciting car coming to ‘Forza Horizon 6’ this month

The Temerario and F80 are cool, too, we suppose

Earlier this week, Playground Games revealed more information on the next monthly update for Forza Horizon 6. The coming weeks will revolve around the theme of ‘Italian Exotics’ featuring some very fast machines from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Alfa Romeo.

As fun as that sounds, the community isn’t too enthusiastic about the new update. The current theme, titled ‘Horizon Decades,’ was a bit of a whiff after just three new cars were added for the community to earn through challenges. The four other new cars were locked behind the Car Pass paywall, and even then, these felt like they could have been base game inclusions. As it stands, the coming weeks could also be more of the same.

The update headliners are the Lamborghini Temerario and the Ferrari 296 GTB. The former is the Huracan’s hybrid successor, the latter marked Maranello’s mastery of electrification; both will serve as month-long goals for players to work towards. The De Tomaso Pantera GT5 will be up for grabs when the in-game Summer season kicks in this week. Of the 10 reward cards available throughout the month, just these three are actually new to the game—the others have been (or are currently) available through other means.

Another four new cars are locked behind a paywall called the Italian Passion Car Pack. This set offers the Ferrari F80, the Ferrari 275 GTB4 Spider, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm, and the Alfa Romeo SE 048SP. All wonderful cars in their own right, but unless you bought the game’s Premium Edition, this four-pack will set you back P245. These cars are available to drive in-game now after an update earlier this week.

Now, on to this week’s Car Pass—which, funnily enough, attracted more buzz from the community compared to the other incredible vehicles coming this month. Over the next four weeks, the Aston Martin DB7 GT, the 1972 Nissan Patrol, the Toyota Prius Prime XSE Premium, and the Honda Z GT will be on their way to Car Pass holders’ garages.

Yes, yes, we’re sure that the DB7 GT will be a great track performer and that the old-school Patrol will look great next to its Toyota counterpart. But a Prius! There’s something novel about being able to drive the current, glowed-up incarnation of the hybrid car in a game like Forza Horizon.

With 220hp and 279Nm of torque sent to the front wheels, the Prius is categorized in this game as a hot hatch. Of course, like other cars in the game, you can always stuff it with a V6 and make it spin the rear wheels instead with a drivetrain swap. Personally, I’ll be trying to tune the car to see how far the platform can be pushed on the touge.

Forza Horizon 6 is a game filled to the brim with hypercars packed with more horses than sense. That’s why I feel that quirky additions like the Prius stir more excitement than the fourth or fifth variant of the Huracan. Now, if only they’d add a Super GT bodykit for it...

What say you, though? Which of the new cars has you hyped the most? Or do you think the game has bigger issues that need solving? Sound off in the comments.
