Any Seiko fans here? Who are we kidding—we know there’s more than a handful of you guys reading this. There are at least a couple that are part of the Top Gear Philippines team, and the brand’s timepieces are practically a staple in the local motoring scene.
Anyway, if you or someone you know is looking to add to their Seiko collection, here’s a pitch for you: The watch brand has teamed up with Toyota Modellista for its latest batch of automotive-themed chronographs.
These new Seiko x Modellista collaboration pieces are all priced between ¥49,500 to ¥55,000 (to P20,000 to P22,300), and feature design cues that pay homage to the Japanese car brand’s customization partner.

All three pieces get a blacked-out face that features hints of Modellista’s branding and recognizable green color scheme. The appearance of components like the clock hands and band are also inspired by different parts of a Modellista bodykit, such as side skirts and grille trim.
Interestingly, the idea for the collaboration wasn’t floated in a scheduled meeting or pitch to executives. Instead, representatives from Seiko rang up Modellista’s call center.
“At first, when Seiko Watch called the call center, I was wondering if it was a prank,” Chikara Kocho of Toyota’s development HQ and engineering department design office said in an interview.
“This is the first time I’ve talked about the collaboration itself, and I was surprised twice that it was Seiko, which every Japanese person knows.”
Anyway, you still have a few months left before Jose Mari Chan starts blasting on local speakers. Interested in nabbing one of these watches?
