Want to save on transportation costs when booking ride-hailing services? You might want to consider transport providers that offer electric vehicles (EVs) in their fleet. Due to ongoing fuel prices and inflation, more ride-hailing services are turning to EVs in key cities for lower costs and higher efficiency.
A report by Inquirer cites taxi operators saying that even before the oil crisis, electric taxis were already running at roughly 75% to 87% lower cost per kilometer than a typical internal-combustion taxi.
As more providers shift to EVs, this could translate to potentially lower fares, quieter and more comfortable rides, and positive environmental impacts for passengers. Here’s a look at some ride-hailing services that currently offer EV options, along with a quick cost comparison for the same route or distance.
GrabTaxi Electric

Last year, Grab rolled out GrabTaxi Electric, the country’s first fully electric, on-demand taxi fleet officially recognized by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). In April 2026, Grab expanded its fleet with various Filipino electric-vehicle taxi operators to activate hundreds more hybrid and electric taxi units on GrabTaxi Electric, addressing the surge in fuel costs.
GrabTaxi Electric is currently in beta and available in Metro Manila hubs, including Makati, Taguig, Pasig, Pateros, Marikina, Manila, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Pasay, and select areas of Paranaque and Quezon City. Grab has also announced plans to expand its eco-mobility strategy to regional cities, including Cebu and Davao, as EV taxi adoption accelerates nationwide.

To book a ride, download the Grab app and select the ‘Car’ option. Choose your pick-up and drop-off locations. Click on the drop-down arrow beside Standard Car, and pick ‘Fast’ with the car icon with a lightning bolt. Uncheck ‘Standard’ and select ‘Grab EV’ to book a ride.
For comparison, a GrabCar ride from Gateway Mall to SM Mall of Asia costs P560 on a Standard Car. Meanwhile, the Electric Taxi ride ranges from P435 to P522.
Green GSM

Easily recognizable on the road by its signature cyan green color, Green GSM (green and smart mobility) boasts “green vehicles and eco-friendly by design.” The Vietnam-owned company’s fleet is served by VinFast EVs, which have been operating the all-electric taxi service since early June 2025.
Major business districts and residential areas in Metro Manila are included in their coverage areas, including Makati, Taguig, Pasig, Pasay, Caloocan, Quezon City, San Juan, Parañaque, Mandaluyong, Manila, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa. The service also launched in Davao City in December 2025 with 600 initial units and plans for expansion.

There are three ways to book a ride on Green GSM EVs: Through the Green GSM app, through their hotline (02-7777-8080), or by flagging one of the taxis on the road if you see them.
Upon checking the app, a ride on Green GSM from Gateway Mall to SM Mall of Asia was estimated at P298 to P372.25.
Take note that Green GSM uses a taxi meter system, which calculates fares based on the distance traveled and duration of the ride on top of the booking fee. The price that appears on the app is just an estimate. Fares could still vary during off-peak hours and can be cheaper than other services if there’s no traffic. However, if you happen to get caught in heavy traffic or pass a longer and roundabout route, trips could cost more than other ride-hailing services that offer a fixed fee.

AngCars

AngCars, the four-wheel ride-hailing arm of motorcycle taxi service provider Angkas, plans to expand its services, with a focus on a larger EV fleet, as per a report by BusinessWorld.
The transport service has partnered with CarBEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) to introduce electric vehicles to its fleet. Last October, it initially rolled out 50 brand-new Next Automatic Taxi vehicles from Bestune for its pilot service.

AngCars typically services high-demand areas like Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Bonifacio Global City (BGC), and is currently studying the deployment of more units while also expanding its coverage area.
To book a ride, download the Angkas app and register an account. Select ‘AngCars’ below the Motorcycle Taxi and Padala options. Input your pickup and drop-off locations to see the estimated fare and confirm the booking as a passenger. When we checked, a ride on AngCars from Gateway Mall to SM Mall of Asia was estimated at P412. However, this applies to regular AngCars rides and not necessarily EVs.
InDrive

The Philippines is the fifth Asian market where ride-hailing app InDrive is introducing e-vehicle taxis following its successful rollouts in India, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Thailand.
While a specific EV option is not indicated on its app locally, InDrive reportedly plans to roll out electric vehicles in Metro Manila by the second half of 2026. Last year, InDrive started testing its e-vehicle taxis in Baguio City, using the city’s mountainous terrain to assess the longevity and viability of the units.

By 2026, the company is aiming to have 1,000 EVs plying more roads in the country; its potential target for expansion next year is Metro Manila.
To book a ride, download the InDrive app, input your pickup and drop-off location, and select your preferred ride. Based on a mock booking on the app, a standard 4-seater ride on InDrive from Gateway Mall to SM Mall of Asia costs about P397.
Xpress

While still new in the ride-hailing scene, Xpress is another player to take note of, especially for motorcycle taxi users. This Filipino-owned super app backed by Cebuana Lhuillier offers ride-hailing services for both two-wheel (motorcycle) and four-wheel (car/SUV) vehicles, focusing on electric vehicles for both, along with parcel delivery services. The ride-hailing app launched Xpress EV Taxis in BGC and Makati, aiming to have a fully electric fleet by 2030. Xpress uses Voltai electric motorcycles for its electric moto-taxi and delivery services in the Philippines through a partnership with the AboitizPower group.
They are currently rolling out services in Metro Manila, with expansions into Cavite (Bacoor), Pampanga (San Fernando, Angeles City, Clark), Bataan (Balanga, Pilar, Abucay), as of early 2026. They also operate Xpress e-trikes in Boracay.
To book rides, download the Xpress app and select either Moto Taxis or Standard EV taxis. Upon checking the app, an EV Taxi ride on Xpress from Gateway Mall to SM Mall of Asia was estimated at P422 to P462, while the regular sedan costs P384. Meanwhile, a MotoTaxi ride was estimated at just P191 for the same distance.
