What a play on its own name

More and more transport network vehicle services (TNVS) are entering the market. There’s Super Taxi from JoyRide, and the new albeit currently suspended inDrive.

There’s yet another one that’s set to launch here, and it might be from an entity many of us least expected: Angkas. According to a report by Philstarlife.com, Angkas CEO George Royeca recently announced that the company will be entering the TNVS game through the app this year.

It looks like this service is going to have Angkas’ signature meme-ish marketing, too. See, the service is going to be called Angcars. That alone should give us an idea of how its social media is going to be like.

“Angcars is designed to be an advanced ride-hailing app that seamlessly blends affordability with user-friendly navigation,” said Royeca.

The app will provide users with options such as Angcars Economy and Angcars Plus to allow passengers to choose between four- and six-seater vehicles, a feature that Angcars’ would-be competitors also offer.

In addition to Angcars, Angkas also plans to expand its app by introducing Angkas Health and Angkas Padala. The former will allow app users to avail of healthcare services at home, while the latter will be introduced as a payment app.

No exact timeline yet has been provided for the launch, but we expect to see further updates sooner rather than later.
