There’s an all-new Ford Mustang Mach 1 in the works, and this one is set to roll out soon. Sooner than the next-generation Mustang, in fact, as the Mach 1 is returning for the 2021 model year.
And yes, this one still runs on a combustion engine unlike the battery-powered Mustang Mach-E. It packs a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8, to be exact. That’s one way for a car to make a comeback after a 17-year hiatus.
Ford has only provided us a preview of the new Mach 1, but at least the photos give us a good look at the car’s slightly-camoed-up face. The front end appears to sport bigger air intakes on the grille and the bumper. Other than that, there’s not much to see with the zoomed-out view of the Mach 1’s rear. We know the car will get some nice new wheels, though.

“Mach 1 has a special place in Mustang history, and it’s time for this special edition to claim the top spot in our 5.0-liter V8 performance lineup and reward our most hard-core Mustang enthusiasts who demand that next level of power, precision, and collectability,” said Ford Icons director Dave Pericak. “Like the original, the all-new Mustang Mach 1 will be true to its heritage, delivering great looks and as the most track-capable 5.0-liter Mustang ever.”
There’s also another Ford model that’ll be making a comeback for the 2021 model year, and the American carmaker has released some teasers of it, too—more substantial ones than these Mach 1 photos at that. That’s right: we’re talking about the Ford Bronco.
We’ve been waiting for it for a while now—you may even remember our previous renders of what we think the new Bronco will look like. Luckily for all of us anticipating this launch, we now get actual footage of the camoed up Bronco navigating some tricky terrain. Check out the video below:
Now, this is something that we think will please both the disgruntled Mustang purists up in arms about Ford’s new electric SUV, and off-road enthusiasts who’ve been patiently waiting for Bronco’s big reveal. What do you think? Check out more photos and videos of these two models below, and share your two cents in the comments.
