We hate to sound like a broken record, but electric vehicles (EV) should really be a thing here in the Philippines. This isn’t just because of the usual environmental concerns, but because we’re missing out on a ton of awesome releases, too.
Now, you can add this to the growing list of EVs that give us serious FOMO. This is the Marvel R Electric, MG’s next-generation electric SUV.
If it isn’t apparent already, the Marvel R Electric is quite the looker: A sculpted face and incredibly macho bumper endow the vehicle with a rugged vibe not many EVs can lay claim to, while a nicely tapered roofline and refined character lines give the exterior a dash of elegance. Unified head and taillights, meanwhile, help give the aesthetic a next-gen feel.
The interior is pretty neat, too, albeit more subdued than what greets you outside. Here, you’ll find a dark, minimalist vibe that features plenty of soft-touch materials and what appears to be attractive metal trim. There’s a 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, and the highlight of this cabin is a gargantuan 19.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
MG has made sure the Marvel R Electric has the performance to back up its style, too. It runs on a tri-motor setup that puts out 288hp and 665Nm of torque to all four wheels and propels the SUV from 0-100kph in a measly 4.9sec. Its top speed is pegged at 200kph, and it can run over 400km on a single full charge. Speaking of charging, it’s capable of hitting 80% from zero in just 30 minutes via fast charging.
MG says the Marvel R Electric will hit the European market sometime in May 2021. Are you looking forward to the day EVs like this will be commonplace in Philippine dealerships as well? Let us know in the comments.
