The redesigned Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is one SUV we’ve been highly anticipating this year. It was initially thought that it would make its Philippine debut back in June, but that month rolled by with no changes.

But finally, we can finally say that the Prado has officially landed in the country. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the Philippine-spec 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. We’re squealing with excitement right now.

Only one variant of the Prado is offered for the local market, at least for now. There is no specific variant name, but it appears to have the same look as the top-spec model in Australia, the Kakadu (main image).

With that, the local Prado comes with a different vertical grille and not the retro-style panel we see in other markets. It also comes with color-keyed fender flare extensions, as well as body-colored trim panels. Our Prado then wears 20-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in 265/60 R20 tires.

Thankfully, we get most of the goodies found in other markets inside. The redesigned Prado comes with a fully digital instrument cluster, along with a 12.3-inch infotainment system. Power seats are fitted to both front occupants, but sadly, there is no mention of ventilated seats.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with an upgraded audio system boasting ten speakers. Seatbelt reminders are present in the first two rows of seats. Like before, there’s room for seven inside but there's now a rear-entertainment system as well.

With the Prado switching to an electronic power steering arrangement, it has allowed Toyota to fit the more of the features found in Toyota Safety Sense. It includes autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. There’s also a surround view monitor (360-degree camera) and something called a Multi-Terrain Monitor. In essence, it’s cameras pointed at angles most useful for off-roading.

Speaking of off-roading, Crawl Control is included in the local-spec Prado. Crawl Control automatically modulates the throttle and brakes through five low-speed settings to help the driver focus on steering in difficult terrain. Another helpful feature on the trails is Multi-Terrain Select. This system has five modes to choose from, namely Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Rock and Deep Snow, you know, just in case. A rear locking differential is, of course, standard.

Powering the Prado for the Philippines is a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine. It’s the lone engine choice, and Toyota hasn’t mentioned anything about offering a diesel. It’s good for 279hp and 430Nm, similar to the outgoing 4.0-liter V6 in terms of power but heaps more torque. It then shifts with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its four-wheel drive system has low-range for even better off-road drive and traction.
