BYD Cars Philippines has just announced the expansion of its electrified lineup with the all-new BYD Atto 2 DM-i and Atto 2 EV, as well as the new Seal 5 DM-i. No exact launch date has been revealed in the carmaker’s Facebook post, but BYD is already accepting sign-ups for those who want to experience any of these new vehicles firsthand.

The Atto 2 DM-i is the only plug-in hybrid in the Atto family. It’s smaller than the fully electric Atto 3, measuring 4,130mm long, 1,830mm wide, and 1,675mm tall, with a 2,620mm wheelbase. That makes it similar in size to the Toyota Yaris Cross.

The Atto 2 DM-i comes in two variants: Active and Boost, though we haven’t confirmed if we’ll be getting both in the country. They come powered with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with an electric motor delivering a combined output of 164hp for the Active variant and 210hp for the Boost. Both deliver 300Nm of torque. BYD claims a combined fuel economy of around 50km/L and a range of up to 1,000km with a full tank of gas and a fully charged battery.

Both variants get BYD’s host of advanced driving-assist systems, including adaptive and intelligent cruise control, blind-spot detection, hill-descent control, and emergency lane-keeping assist, while the Boost gets additional safety features such as a 360-view camera and front parking radars.

Moving on to the Atto 2 EV. This B-segment crossover shares the same tech as its DM-i counterpart, with the main difference being the fully electric powertrain. The BEV uses an electric motor producing 135hp and 290Nm, while its range is listed as 345km. Looking at the exterior, you can distinguish the Atto 2 EV by its slightly smaller front grille, but apart from that, everything looks identical to the DM-i.

As of writing, BYD has yet to reveal the full price list of the Atto 2 DM-i and the Atto 2 EV, so we’ll have to wait until the two are officially unveiled. We’ll also provide a full article on the local specs and features you can expect from both models when they make their debut. What do you think of the Atto 2 so far? Let us know in the comments.
