The next-generation BYD Atto 3 has been unveiled at Auto China 2026. Now sporting a more executive look, the fully electric compact crossover has also been outfitted with a more efficient electric powertrain, which can deliver up to 630km in driving range.

It should be noted that this new-look Atto 3 is completely different from the performance-focused version we reported on in February 2026. While we don’t know what the future holds for that version, this newer model seems to be the official successor to the current generation.

BYD has completely overhauled the Atto 3, giving it a longer body and a couple of powertrain options. With how competitive the electric crossover segment has become, it looks like the Atto 3 needed to reinvent itself to stay relevant.

The initial specifications from Auto China reveal that the new Atto 3 has an overall length of 4,665mm, which is almost 200mm longer than the presently available model. That extra length gives the crossover a larger front trunk, a more spacious cabin, and real estate for BYD’s new battery technology. The powertrains on the Atto 3 are now capable of what BYD calls ‘flash charging,’ with a claimed charging speed of 10% to 97% in just nine minutes.

Buyers in China have the option of a 57.545kWh battery, which powers a rear-mounted electric motor. While it is smaller than the pack on the current-generation Atto 3, the new model is said to deliver a longer driving range of 540km. A more powerful 68.547kWh battery will also be available, and that should be good for 630km of driving.

The new Atto 3 also comes in a dual-motor configuration rated at about 322hp. Meanwhile, the aforementioned RWD single-motor version makes around 268hp.

There’s still no word on a global launch, but in any case, we can expect BYD Cars Philippines to roll out the Sealion 7 and the Atto 2 first.
