Just a month after debuting its luxury-performance sedan, the BYD Seal, the world’s leading EV manufacturer is back with something special for the entry-level sedan market.
In November 2024, BYD will be unveiling the BYD Seal 5 DM-i, a hybrid that will most likely fit in the compact sedan size range. With BYD teasing that its new sedan will feature extended range, the latest technology, and ‘unbeatable savings,’ the Toyota Vios, Honda City, and perhaps even the Mitsubishi Mirage will have another thing to worry about this holiday season.

Judging from the teaser video BYD posted across its social media accounts, the Seal 5 DM-i will attempt to redefine the entry-level sedan market in a sleek, but industrial aesthetic. Its profile is defined by a boxy and rigid form factor, as it is complemented by a long roof line that flows up and around to the rear of the car.
The headlights are thin and seamlessly curve upwards into the hood, almost similar to what is found on the BYD Seal. Around back, the tail light is streaked across the trunk in one long, elegant line. Design curves over the hood and around the sides complete its exterior style.
From that long roofline, it looks like the Seal 5 DM-i will house a big and spacious cabin. Recalling BYD’s design profile, a simple but clean interior is also expected—with the latest infotainment offerings of course.
There is no word on driving range, variants and the ever-so coveted price, but the public will not have wait too long as its official release is slated for November 21.
