The Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator may already be available here in the Philippines, but there are still a handful of reasons to be jealous of units sold in the US market—the latest of which is the availability of a new Mopar lift kit exclusive to the two models’ EcoDiesel-powered variants.
As you know, the burly EcoDiesel V6 engine isn’t available here in our market. Instead, our Wrangler is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged in-line-four gasoline engine and the Gladiator by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. So tough luck if you’re interested in this upgrade.
Anyway, the new two-inch lift kit courtesy of Mopar is all bolt-on—meaning there’s no need for any additional drilling, cutting, or welding. It comes with four larger 2.5-inch-diameter Fox shock absorbers with better weight capacity and durability. These supposedly improve on-and off-road performance for units equipped with the EcoDiesel V6. It’ll give the Gladiator and Wrangler longer control arms and new bushings, and increases the suspension’s articulation by up to 18% while raising ground clearance and providing better approach and departure angles.
“Our comprehensive Jeep portfolio includes more than 500 factory-engineered, quality-tested, off-road performance parts and accessories,” Mopar service, parts and customer care head Mark Bosanac said in a statement. “At Mopar, we’ll continue to fill our catalog with ultra-capable, factory-backed features that resonate with Jeep fans.”
Again, this isn’t available locally, but let’s get into how much it costs anyway, because we like to tease ourselves like that. The lift kit carries a $1,495 (P73,000) price tag for both the Wrangler and Gladiator. Mopar’s Vehicle Protection calibration option—which you’ll need to reconfigure the odometer and speedometer if you’re running on larger tires—will set you back an extra $125 (around P6,000).
So, it this an upgrade you’d be interested in getting if it were available in the Philippines? Let us know in the comments.
