Ford Philippines has announced that we can expect the first electrified model from the company in 2025. Not only that, the new country managing director, Pedro Simoes, mentioned ‘models.’ Yes, plural.
It’s a huge deal for Ford, given that it’s the only top five car company in the country to not offer at least one electrified vehicle. Its best-selling models are diesels (Ranger and Everest), and the rest of the range are gas-fed. With that, which battery-assisted or full electric Ford vehicles could land in the country soon?

Ford Mustang Mach-E

The battery-powered Mustang crossover seems to be the likeliest to come here first. We’ve already seen the LTO homologation papers, and we saw that there are two variants approved for sale in the country. Per the public documents, we could get the Premium and GT versions of the Mach-E, the latter coming with 480hp, 815Nm, and all-wheel drive. It should be a good match against the high-performance electric crossovers coming to the market.
Ford Territory PHEV

Given that Ford Philippines said ‘models,’ we could at least two electrified models from the company. With that, we’re also placing our bets on the plug-in hybrid version of the heavily updated Territory. It’s already available in China as the Equator Sport PHEV but is yet to be exported. It uses a 1.5-liter engine mated to a single electric motor that gives a combined output of 218hp.
Ford Ranger PHEV

Another electrified model that has a decent chance of coming here is the plug-in hybrid Ford Ranger. This one might take a while, though, as the Ranger PHEV won’t be built in Thailand, at least for now. Instead, these will be sourced from South Africa as the electrified Ranger’s main market is Europe although it’s on track for Australia in 2025. The Ranger PHEV swaps the 2.0-liter biturbo for a 2.3-liter Ecoboost with an electric motor to give it a total output of 275hp and 689Nm.
Ford Escape HEV

We haven’t had the Escape in the Philippines for a long time now. But given that the company is pushing for its greener initiative, it might be good time to reintroduce the name here again. A good chunk of the compact crossover market is going hybrid right now, namely with the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, and Toyota RAV4. The specs are promising, too, with its electrically-assisted 2.5-liter engine making a combined output of 192hp. Oh, and all-wheel drive is available.
