GWM Philippines is going all-in on electrification. In an effort to offer a diverse array of powertrain options, the Chinese carmaker has previewed three new vehicles at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show.

Taking center stage was the GWM Tank 700 Hi4-Z, a plug-in hybrid SUV that could shape up to be the brand’s next flagship offering. It was joined by the smaller Haval H7, another plug-in hybrid SUV, and the Ora 5, a fully electric subcompact crossover. GWM also hinted that a hybrid version of the latter may also enter the Philippines in the near future.

As each vehicle uses a different powertrain, they are positioned for distinct car buyers and markets. These products will eventually join the diesel-powered Cannon, completing a versatile lineup for the modern automotive era.

Fresh from China, the full-size GWM Tank 700 Hi4-Z packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and a huge 59.1kWh battery. With its dual-motor setup, the plug-in hybrid SUV makes a head-turning 888hp and 1,195Nm of torque.

It’s hard to think of this behemoth as a fuel-efficient car, but GWM says it can drive up to 190km on pure electric power, and around 1,200km when working with the engine. Mind, the Tank 700 has also been outfitted with a 4x4 drivetrain, and is advertised as an off-roader. Prices and availability have yet to be revealed, but we can expect this soon.

While the Haval H7 is noticeably smaller than the Tank 700, its boxy frame and imposing looks make it appear much larger than it is. And like the Tank, the H7 is also a plug-in hybrid, but it uses a more conservative 1.5-liter turbo and 35.4kWh battery.

However, it still makes a whopping 443hp and 750Nm of torque. Its fully electric driving range is rated at a promising 151km, while its overall capacity is listed at just over 1,000km.

MIAS 2026: GWM Ora 5 EV

After seeing the Ora 5 at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show, the cat-like car has now made its way to the Philippines. Later this year, GWM will offer it as a fully electric subcompact crossover, with the hybrid version scheduled for a later date.

The official specifications and variants have yet to be revealed, but if the local market is to receive the same Ora 5 as the Thai market, then we can expect a 58.3kWh battery paired with an electric motor that produces 201hp and 260Nm of torque. As for driving range, it is set to be 502km on a full charge.
