It’s clear that Honda is determined to make its new lineup of ‘0 Series’ electric vehicles the centerpiece of its drive into the future. If you’re excited, then you’ll be happy to know you’ll have a variety of models to choose from.

During a recent briefing, the Japanese carmaker announced that it will have launched at least seven all-new 0 Series EVs by 2030. Honda says this will be comprised of various models ranging fromsmall to large size, and will include the 2026 model launch it announced back in January.

As far as what these cars have to offer is concerned, Honda has committed to making its 0 Series EV lineup “thin, light, and wise.”

Models will be “thin” in the sense that their new e-Axle will be compact and run on an “ultra-thin” battery pack. Supposedly, they’ll be “light” because they’ll run on a lighter fun-to-drive power unit inspired by the company’s Formula 1 racers (Honda claims weight savings of around 100kg). Finally, “wise” because units will feature a smorgasbord of advanced tech features.

All these promises are obviously going to cost a pretty penny, which is why Honda is planning to invest a whopping ¥10 trillion (roughly P3.7 billion) in resources for its electrification push. This includes the creation of a new business structure that, hopefully, will cut the company’s EV production costs by up to 35%, as well as the “advancement of EV production technologies and facilities.”

Honda expects that the second half of this decade will be the EV sector’s true “popularization period.” With the way things are shaping up in the global car market, we have to agree. But will Philippine EV infrastructure have caught up by then? We certainly hope so. What do you think?
