The Honda e may have had a tiny range and a hefty price tag, but it remains a wonderful piece of design. It was discontinued in late 2023 and it’s safe to say the e:NY1 hasn’t exactly filled the gap in our hearts.
Thankfully, it sounds as though Honda does have plans to replace the e at some point in the future. “We understand the market for small electric cars is blooming,” said Katsushi Inoue, former Honda Motor Europe boss and now the man in charge of its ‘electrification business development operations.’ Important-sounding job.
“So far, we are planning to do that independently from 0 Series,” he told Top Gear at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show show in Las Vegas. “We are thinking about it and considering it, but it is too early to confirm anything. There is nothing concrete to talk about today.

“We know the market is there, but 0 Series cannot go that small. The market situation is fully understood. We want to take advantage of burgeoning markets.”
Of course, Honda has already committed to launching seven separate 0 Series models worldwide by 2030. All seven of those cars will be based on the same platform, but other than the recently revealed Saloon and another ‘compact sedan’ that’ll launch in that 2030 deadline year, all of them will be SUVs.
