This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed is just a few weeks away, and if you’re a Honda fan attending the event, you’re probably looking forward to seeing the production Prelude and the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition make a run up the Hill. Well, the Japanese brand has another car taking on the Goodwood Hillclimb: the all-new Honda Super EV Concept.
It’s got a Honda e vibe going on, yes? The carmaker calls it an ‘urban concept vehicle,’ so it sounds like a follow-up to the beloved but steeply priced and now-discontinued electric hatch. It’s an A-segment model, though, making it smaller than the subcompact e. Hopefully more affordable, too.

The Goodwood run should show just how much “fun-to-drive electric performance” this all-new model has. We’ve only been shown one photo of the car in camouflage as it undergoes feasibility testing in London, so for now, we’ll have to take its maker’s word that it features “trademark Honda usability.”

The most important bit of news is that the production model spawned from the Super EV Concept will be “part of a wider global program.” Katsushi Inoue, Honda’s electrification boss, did acknowledge that “the market for small electric cars is blooming” when asked about the possibility of a second-generation e earlier this year. This may or may not be it, but it looks to capture the spirit of the original e, and now seems to promise greater accessibility for more markets.
It won’t be long before we get more details—watch this space when the Goodwood festivities kick off next month.
