As early as May, we told you that Lexus Manila would launch the NX compact crossover this month. That time has come. Company president Danny Isla has sent out invites for the official Philippine release of the NX, set for August 28 at the Lexus showroom in Bonifacio Global City.
If you've already bought a copy of our current Green Issue--you may download it here--you know that we've already revealed the official price of the hybrid version, the NX300h, which will be the first variant to be launched in our market. The figure is P3,908,000, a relatively high amount (compared to other Lexus models) as a result of the fact that the NX will not benefit from the tax exemption bestowed by the Japan-Philippine Economic Partnership Agreement on Japan-sourced vehicles with an engine displacement of 3.0 liters or higher. The NX300h features hybrid propulsion that includes a 2.5-liter gasoline engine.
According to Isla, only 17 units of the NX300h will reach Philippine shores this year, so this will be a pretty exclusive model if you're looking to own one. In January, Lexus Manila hopes to bring in the turbocharged version, the NX200t, which is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline powerplant. That could be the better seller between the two variants, especially if you include the F Sport edition.
