It seems like only yesterday when the current-generation Mitsubishi Montero Sport made its Philippine debut. Now, people are already looking forward to the arrival of the all-new one. Time sure does fly, doesn’t it?
Mitsubishi isn’t finished with the midsize SUV’s current iteration just yet, though. The Japanese car manufacturer displayed the facelifted version of the Montero Sport at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show, and we finally get our first proper look at it.

There’s nothing too drastic to report here when it comes to aesthetics—which is fine since the vehicle is already pretty handsome for its class. There are, however, a few noticeable alterations potential buyers might be interested in.
The most significant change here is up front, where a new grille that adheres to the brand’s current design language can be found. If you’re looking for a fresher look down low, you’ll also be happy to know that the facelifted Montero Sport now comes with a new set of wheels.

Some changes have also been applied to the SUV’s interior. Here, you’ll find an updated digital instrument cluster, as well as a brand-new steering wheel design similar to that of the all-new Triton’s.
Mitsubishi has also seen it fit to make some alterations under the hood, too. It’s a 4N16 turbodiesel—similar to the Triton’s, but minus the extra turbo. Output is rated at 181hp and 430Nm—same torque figures as the current engine we have in our market, but it gets three extra horses.

So, are you interested in copping this if it comes out locally? Or do you figure you might as well wait for the next-generation Montero Sport? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.
