The Australasian New Car Assessment Program recently released an updated safety report on the Toyota bZ4X. Before anyone panics, the electric crossover retained its five-star safety rating; however, there were some adjustments to its individual scores.
This latest certification applies to units made from October 2025 and so on. It will also be valid until December 2031. With the bZ4X expected to go on sale in the Philippines later this year, buyers can refer to these scores when making their decision.

Aside from retaining its overall five-star rating, Toyota’s maiden EV also kept its 88% score in adult occupant protection. A closer look at the actual crash tests revealed that the newer bZ4X actually performed marginally better.

It slightly improved in vulnerable road user protection as well, jumping from a previous 79% rating to 80% in today’s report. That is also thanks to more detailed testing from ANCAP, especially in terms of pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcycle rider awareness.

In child occupant protection, the vehicle lost a couple of percentage points. It now holds an 86% mark, a small decrease from its previous 88% score. However, the biggest drop was in safety assists, where it scored a commendable 92% in the past report. Driver-assistance features on the bZ4X are now rated at 80%.
While these new scores may sound worrisome, it is important to note that the five-star rating is still in place and will continue to be, barring any major issues in production.
