Heads up, Lexus owners: The Japanese car manufacturer is currently holding a service campaign for local Lexus NX units.

According to a recent advisory on the Department of Trade and Industry official website, the campaign covers a total of 133 local Lexus NX units produced from November 15, 2021 to February 27, 2023.

The issue that needs to be addressed is related to the vehicle’s forward recognition camera. Units that are part of the service campaign will need to come in to have the camera reprogrammed or replaced, as faulty software may cause a “memory failure” when the vehicle’s ignition is switched off. This results in the unit’s pre-collision system (PCS) malfunctioning.

Reprogramming or replacement of the forward camera will be entirely free of charge, Lexus Manila Inc. says. Owners that are part of the service campaign will be notified and invited to have the repair performed at an accredited Lexus dealership.

“Involved customers with vehicles included in the service campaign are highly encouraged to immediately set an appointment with an authorized Lexus Dealer to perform the necessary reprogramming of the Forward Recognition Camera and prevent problems from occurring,” the company says.

The pre-collision system is one of the most important parts of the Lexus NX’s safety kit. Better to be safe than sorry, right?
