Nissan has big things planned for the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, and it will revolve around its performance division, Nismo. Scheduled for January 9 to 11, next year’s show will host a new Nismo concept model.
The concept will be displayed alongside the facelifted Z and its Nismo variant, both of which are slated for a 2026 release. Nissan has not shared anything else about the concept, but thankfully, January isn’t too far away.

Additionally, Nissan announced that it will be expanding the Nismo brand to develop more performance-boosted vehicles and ramp up production. Globally, there are five Nismo-modified models available, and the Japanese carmaker is aiming to add another five to the lineup over the next few years.

Following a “Road to track, track to road” philosophy, Nismo will also continue its efforts in the Super GT, Formula E, and Super Taikyu tournaments. The learnings and engineering innovations from those races should inform how future production Nismo models will look and perform. Perhaps a fully electric Nismo vehicle is also in development.

This brand push will go along with Nissan’s vehicle restoration and customization endeavors, which will also be spearheaded by its motorsports company. For now, restoration services will be made available to the Skyline GT-R R32, R33, and R34, with other vintage Nissans in the pipeline. Coincidentally, Honda will also launch its own restoration suite, starting with the first-generation NSX.
All of these plans fall under Nissan’s recovery plan, Re:Nissan, which aims to return the company to profitability by 2027. Apart from new vehicle launches and product development, Re:Nissan has also carried out plant closures and workforce consolidations.
