Kelley Blue Book has come up with a list of what it describes as the 10 coolest cars available in the United States for less than $18,000 (P784,440.04 at $1: P43.58). Of the 10 cars, only four are currently sold in the Phiilppines: the Hyundai Elantra, the Kia Forte Koup, the Honda Jazz (sold as the Honda Fit in the US) and the Ford Fiesta.
According to Kelley Blue Book, the Elantra is "an all-around package of slick design, convenient features and fuel-efficiency" while the Forte Koup doesn’t only look cool being the sportiest-looking car in the list, it also acts cool with its impressive list of standard equipment like the satellite-ready audio system, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and USB/iPod integration.
The Jazz made it to the list as its "fun, flexible and funky" characteristics make it an instantly unanimous choice for Kelley Blue Book's annual cool car list while the Fiesta is looking to be another perennial favorite for the publication since its "European looks and well-crafted interior outclass everything else in the category, and its sharp driving dynamics and nimble handling still impress us every time we get behind the wheel."
Although various economic factors play a difference in the local pricing of the four vehicles in that they cost more than the $18,000 limit used by Kelley Blue Book, it's worth noting that the prices of the Jazz and Fiesta are just marginally higher. At the most, the price difference is in the P70,000 range.
The difference from the Elantra, though, is over P150,000 while with the Forte Koup, the price difference is over P635,000--and to think the local Forte Koup doesn't even come with the US version's satellite-ready audio system.
The other cars on the list that are not available in the Philippines are the Nissan Cube, the Volkswagen Jetta and the Fiat 500, and the latest-generation models of the Ford Focus, Honda Civic and Mazda 3.
