Those of you who have made a habit of spending leisurely Sundays in Makati are in for some good news: Car-free Sunday mornings on Ayala Avenue will be extended until 2024.

Initially, the car-free scheme was only for the month of September, but it proved so popular, it was eventually extended until the end of 2023. Various activities are held along the thoroughfare every weekend, including workout sessions and fun runs, or you can just drop by and do your own thing.

Do note that the morning of December 24th is the last Ayala Avenue car-free Sunday this year to make way for New Year’s Eve preparations on December 31st. Upcoming Sunday-morning activities and events on Ayala Avenue are posted regularly on the Facebook page of Make It Makati.

Meanwhile, if you’re nearer Mandaluyong, Greenfield City also has its own car-free Sunday morning schem on Mayflower Street, and in Pasig City, various ‘people’s streets’ are also made exclusive to pedestrians on Sundays. Along with a lot of you, we’re fans of this initiative, and we’d like to see more of it.

Which street would you like to go car-free on Sunday mornings? Maybe other than EDSA, that is...
