In case you missed it, the MG One subcompact crossover and the Cyberster open-top electric roadster were unveiled by MG Philippines during its Christmas bash yesterday. At the carpark of the party venue, however, we spotted a third model: The MG4 XPower.
The XPower is the higher all-wheel-drive spec of the MG4 EV, which, along with the Marvel R, made its debut in the local market in October. This range-topping variant makes a total of 429hp (435ps) and 600Nm of torque courtesy of a dual-motor setup, propelling it from a standstill to 100kph in 3.8sec, all the way to a top speed of 200kph.

According to the brand’s UK website, the MG4 XPower has a range of 385km in combined city and highway driving based on the WLTP cycle. In city driving, it has a claimed range of 528km. Charging this car from 10% to 80% takes 8.5 hours using a 7kW charger, 52 minutes via 50kW charger, and 35 minutes using a 150kW fast charger.

Differentiating this variant from the standard MG4 are 18-inch ‘Cyclone’ wheels, larger disc brakes on all four corners, and popping orange calipers with the XPower branding. Also exclusive to this variant is launch control to help it achieve that sub-4sec 0-100 time. There’s a Track Mode display, too, that shows driving info like power distribution, speed/time, g-forces, and steering angle.

This particular paint job is called Hunter Green. Other available colors we saw on the UK website include Volcano Orange, Holborn Blue, and Camden Gray.
Asked if the MG4 XPower will arrive on local shores, distributor SAIC Motor Philippine confirmed it will be launched in our market sometime in the first half of 2024—one of eight new models that will expand the local lineup next year. The MG4 variants already available here are priced at P1,468,888 for the Standard and P1,738,888 for the Lux. Both have single-motor, rear-wheel-driven setups with peak power at 170hp and 200hp, respectively. Based on this, how much do you think should the XPower cost?
