When it comes to cars, age doesn’t matter. A young man in his twenties can own a 50-year-old classic, or an old man in his sixties could have himself a brand-spankin’-new sports car. You do you.
Take this guy, for example. His name’s Chuck Cook, a US Air Force veteran who recently bought a brand-new 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray as a birthday gift to himself. The guy will be celebrating his 90th birthday in March. Yes, 90.
The Cecil Clark Chevrolet Facebook page shared photos of Cook taking delivery of his new Corvette C8, and the dealership was kind enough to throw the guy a small party to celebrate the occasion. Look:
In an interview with Leesburg Daily Commercial, Cook shared his fondness for the famed Chevy nameplate. “This is my birthday present to myself,” the man said. “I’ve owned Corvettes since 1981 when I bought my first one. This makes my fourth one in my lifetime. I can’t wait until the pandemic is over so I can get this to all the car shows.”
A special Corvette for a special day
Cook really did get himself a rather special car, all right—the C8 is the first-ever Corvette to have an engine mounted in the middle. And what makes it even better is that according to GM Authority, Cook got the Z51 package to boot. On top of the 495hp and 637Nm of torque on tap, Cook’s supercar comes fitted with a sports exhaust, adjustable suspension, bigger brakes, the works.
“This was the first 2021 Corvette to hit our lot,” said Buzzy York of Cecil Clark Chevrolet. “It was great being able to celebrate with him for his upcoming birthday and also have the first 2021 Corvette to come here.”
Age is just a number, and this guy is sheer proof. We’re sure Mr. Cook will be enjoying his new toy, and we hope to see more of him and his Corvette in the future.
