In honor of its American roots, Chevrolet Philippines is celebrating 4th of July this year with the launch of an all-new model: the 2024 Chevrolet Trax. Yes, the Trax nameplate is back as a compact crossover, slotting above the Tracker and the Trailblazer in the local lineup.
If you’re considering a new ride from this segment, read on to see what this latest iteration of the Trax has to offer.

Variants and prices

We’ve written before that based on its size, the all-new Trax could compete against the Ford Territory and the GAC Emkoo—but it turns out the Korean-sourced Chevy is positioned well above those two models in terms of asking price. The Territory starts at P1,335,000 and the Emkoo starts at P1,298,000. Meanwhile, the Trax’s variants and prices for the Philippine market are as follows:
Chevrolet Trax 2024 prices
- Chevrolet Trax 1.2 LT – P1,793,888
- Chevrolet Trax 1.2 Redline – P1,866,888
- Chevrolet Trax 1.2 RS – P1,948,888
Exterior

In terms of dimensions, the all-new Trax is slightly bigger than its stablemate, the Trailblazer: It measures 4,537mm long, 1,823mm wide, and 1,560mm tall, with a 2,700mm wheelbase and 186mm ground clearance.
It’s the design and not the footprint, though, that lends this compact crossover a much stronger impression compared with its previous iteration. This Trax features more aggressive design cues to better compete with the sporty offerings in its segment. LED lighting units are standard across the range, but only the Redline and the RS get piano-black front and rear bumper garnish. The black roof (for a two-tone accent) and the electric sunroof are exclusive to the RS trim.

Interior

The all-new Trax’s dashboard, center console, and interior door panels are finished in jet black, with blue accents for the LT and red accents for the higher variants. The quickest way to tell which trim level you’ve got is via the upholstery: The LT gets black and gray leather and fabric seats, the Redline features white and black perforated leather perches with red stitching, and the RS boasts red-stitched black perforated leather. The RS also gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
Here’s a neat detail: The font used to label the controls is a direct throwback to older Chevys. If you’ve ever owned a bowtie-badged vehicle in recent years, you’ll feel right at home in the Trax’s cabin.

As for cargo space, there’s 1,405 liters in total. There’s no standard tonneau cover on the LT, unfortunately.
Engine and specs

There’s only one engine option across the range: a 1.2-liter turbocharged in-line-three gasoline engine mated to a six-speed automatic that drives the front wheels. Peak figures are 137hp at 5,000rpm and 220Nm at 2,500-4,000rpm.
Underpinning the Trax is a suspension setup that comprises MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam at the back. The LT wears 17-inch alloys with 225/60 tires, while the Redline and the RS have 18-inch rims with 225/55 rubber. All three get their stopping power from front ventilated disc brakes and rear solid discs.

Extra features

For the toys, let’s start with infotainment. The Redline and the RS have an 11-inch central multimedia touchscreen and an eight-inch digital multi-information instrument panel. The LT makes do with an eight-inch head unit and a 3.5-inch monochrome multi-information screen. Whichever variant you end up choosing, you’re limited to just Android Auto smartphone integration—nope, no CarPlay here for iPhone users.
Across the range, standard features include brake auto hold, a tire-pressure monitoring system, smartkey entry with push-to-start ignition, an electronic parking brake, and dual USB ports front and rear, including USB-C ports. There’s a power liftgate for the top two variants, in addition to roof rails, six speakers, and eight-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat. The LT has only four speakers and six-way power adjustment.

The Trax does justify its price of entry by having an extensive suite of safety features as standard on all variants. For all trim levels, there are six airbags, enhanced stability control (including cornering brake control, traction control, torque vectoring, panic brake assist, and hill-start assist), and active aids like forward-collision alert, following distance indicator, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, enhanced front pedestrian detection, low-speed imminent collision braking, integrated brake assist, and vehicle forward-movement detection.
