Behold! This is easily one of the most impressive Range Rover builds you’ll come across on the internet. Except instead of a smorgasbord of off-road upgrades or an over-the-top interior, this one gets...Tesla-fied.
Alright, alright. It’s not as extreme as other builds you’ll find out there, but it’s definitely of the more challenging variety. This is E.C.D. Automotive Design’s just-completed Electric Range Rover Classic, and the entire thing took a team of more than 50 people over 2,200 hours to finish. Doesn’t exactly sound like a walk in the park, does it?
By the looks of it, all those hours building this beauty was well worth it. The exterior is finished in Alpine White, and it looks every bit a Range Rover Classic as you would expect. Inside, you’ll find premium tan leather and a dashboard trimmed with dark wood, as well as modern amenities like a state-fo-the-art sound setup paired with an Apple CarPlay-compatible aftermarket infotainment system.
The Crown Jewel here, though, is what’s powering this build: A 100kWh battery paired with a 450hp electric motor. This will allow the vehicle to run up to over 350km on a single five-hour charge and will let it zip from zero to sixty in 5.2 seconds.
“Being leaders in the luxury custom car industry, it was important to us to expand our offerings into the electric market,” Tom Humble, E.C.D. Automotive Design founder said on the company’s blog.
“Now that we have finished the Electric Range Rover Classic we’re going to continue to innovate and electrify Defenders and other Land Rovers. We offer our clients world-class customization, and we are excited to add this new electric option to our truck builds.”
Electrified Land Rover Defenders, huh? That’ll be interesting. What other classic cars would you like to see converted into electric vehicles?
