We have spent a lot of time with the Ford Ranger, and I mean a lot. You can check out our Big Test, where we pit the Ranger Raptor against the Toyota Hilux GR-S, or you can read through our reviews of the V6 and the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo Raptors or even the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo Wildtrak to get the whole idea of how much fun these trucks are.
Time and time again, the Ranger continues to impress us. It’s easy to see why this pickup has such a loyal fanbase in the Philippines, it has stood the test of time throughout its multiple generations.

That longevity and consistency start at the Customer Acceptance Line at every Ford manufacturing plant. The CAL puts every Ford Ranger through a series of tests, to ensure that it rolls off the plant in tip-top shape. These tests are conducted by certified technicians from Ford, along with artificial intelligence and simulation technology, to ensure every Ranger’s build quality.
We’ve laid out the six tests for your reading pleasure below. If you have a Ranger sitting in your garage, these tests might make you want to take a longer look at your truck and just appreciate its toughness.

1) Dark room

The Dark Room test has inspections to check the headlights, taillamps, instrument cluster, interior lighting, and all other screens and bulbs in the truck. This ensures that every source of light is appropriately bright and correctly mounted onto the Ranger.
2) Hands-on inspection

This inspection takes a certified Ford technician to check every surface for imperfections and other items that may need fixing or replacement. All buttons, knobs, and other switches are also tested and checked for responsiveness.
3) Systems check

A technician runs diagnostic tests to check that all electrical components are connected correctly.
4) MAIVS test

Using Ford’s Mobile Artificial Intelligence Vision System, advanced algorithms will scan
around the Ford Ranger to catch any flaws, including crooked or misaligned badges and plates.
5) Rainstorm simulation

In this test, a Ford Ranger will be blasted with water for five minutes to make sure it is properly sealed and tight.
6) Squeak and rattle track

For the final test, a Ford Ranger will drive over various kinds of terrain to test its suspension. Passing this test would mean that no peculiar noises are made while driving, and that the truck’s steering remains spot-on throughout all conditions.
