The Hyundai Stargazer was given a heavy facelift a few months ago, and that version made its world premiere back in July in Indonesia. No surprises there, as the MPV is made at Hyundai’s Indonesia plant.

Given its popularity here, we knew it was only a matter of time before it arrived in the country. Now, that time has come, and Hyundai Motor Philippines has rolled out the refreshed Stargazer.

But aside from a new look, the MPV gets additional features, a redesigned cabin, and the lineup has been reshuffled.

We’ll kick things off with said reshuffled range. The entry-level manual variant has been discontinued, and all models are IVT only. With the base manual model gone, it has allowed Hyundai to add a second Stargazer X variant. All in all, there are four variants to choose from, and the prices start at P1.118 million, all the way to P1.378 million.

To call this a facelift is a bit of an understatement, as there are huge changes to the sheetmetal and bumpers. As such, its dimensions have also changed from the outgoing model. For the Stargazer, it measures 4,575mm long (+115mm), 1,780mm wide (no change), and 1,710mm tall (+20mm). Meanwhile, the Stargazer X comes in at 4,610mm long (+115mm), 1,820mm wide (+5mm), and 1,740mm tall (+30mm). Both ride on a 2,780mm wheelbase, unchanged from before.

For the 2026 model year, both Stargazer and Stargazer X get a more SUV-like appearance with a flatter hood and wider front fascia. The look echoes that of Hyundai’s flagship crossover, the Palisade. Both models also get sharper-looking bumpers, with the Stargazer X getting a more rugged appearance.

As for the rear, the tailgate has been totally changed, and the license plate holder has been moved to the bumper. The taillights still have the distinct H-pattern, but the light clusters are totally different for this version. Hyundai would also like to point out that the Stargazer X now gets functional roof rails that can carry up to 100kg, as well as a tailgate spoiler.

Interior of the Hyundai Stargazer

Inside, the dashboard has been given a complete overhaul. It’s flatter now, and there are more shelves to be seen here. Hyundai went as far as changing the air-conditioning vents and center stack, and we haven’t even touched on the digital displays.

The new Stargazer takes a page from the Creta with a new housing for both the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. The panoramic displays are also new, with the look lifted straight from other Hyundai products such as the Elantra and Staria.

Mind you, the new graphics are for the higher trim levels. The rest of the range gets the older displays, but still with the new dashboard. It’s also worth pointing out that non-X variants of the Stargazer don’t get the climate control touch panel. Instead, those get traditional knobs and dials. The standard Stargazers also utilize a mechanical parking brake, whereas the Stargazer X gets an electronic unit.

Carried over from before is its engine. It’s still the familiar 1.5-liter Smartstream G mill with 113hp and 141Nm. As mentioned, the manual variant has been discontinued, and all shift with an IVT or Intelligent Variable Transmission. It’s essentially Hyundai-speak for a CVT. Regardless of the variant chosen, this is the sole powertrain configuration available.

Extra features of the Hyundai Stargazer

The screens inside the Stargazer are listed as 10.25-inch displays each, with the Stargazer X benefiting from new graphics. The latter also benefits from wireless charging, as well as automatic climate control, a new feature.

Its advanced driver-assistance system, dubbed Hyundai Smartsense, also gets a couple of upgrades. It now includes a stop-and-go function for the adaptive cruise control, along with autonomous emergency braking. Hyundai Smartsense is only available in the Stargazer X models.

All variants come with stability control and a reverse camera, which is pretty much commonplace these days. A neat addition to all variants is the tire pressure monitoring system. GL Plus and GLS variants get two airbags, while the Stargazer X trims benefit from six.
