Say hello to Marbula One—the ‘motorsport’ you didn’t know you needed. Yes, as the name implies, this is racing with high-powered, open-cockpit Mercs, Ferraris, and McLarens swapped with small, spherical glass toys. And no, we did not come across this halfway through a lonely 4am YouTube binge.
Now, don’t let that premise dissuade you from pressing play. Marbula One is, for its very modest scale, a ridiculously impressive production. Teams (yes, there are teams with names) need to go through an actual qualifying stage, and the race takes place on a marble track called the Savage Speedway which comes complete with a mechanized conveyor belt. Ha! You don’t see that at any Formula One races, do you?
To top it all off, there are VIP areas occupied by marble spectators, the races feature some top-notch commentating, and it’s actually quite the nail-biter. There’s even a winners’ podium at the end of the video. Watch:
Frankly, we think this is genius. Jelle’s Marble Runs—the YouTube channel responsible for organizing this race—says Marbula One will become a regular thing following its premiere above.
So, are you sick of seeing Mercedes take the top spot every single Formula One season? Or tired of Lewis Hamilton’s smug face atop the podium all the time? If yes, maybe Marbula One will be more to your liking.
