Car designs have changed quite a bit over the past decade or two. Back in the day, hard lines and boxy proportions were the in thing. Vehicles’ looks became more rounded out over time, and now carmakers are opting for edgier appearances again—but there’s a character to old-school aesthetics that simply cannot be replicated in contemporary automobiles.
Do you agree with this sentiment? If your answer is yes and you own a Toyota, there’s a company in Japan called Renoca that you might be interested in sending your unit to.

Renoca’s specialty is modifying newer Toyotas to look like their retro counterparts. By ‘newer,’ we mean nameplates made in the ’90s, because there’s only so much someone can do to make components fit.
Anyway, ’90s Land Cruisers and Prados, for example, can be fitted with parts to replicate the look of the iconic FJ60. Renoca will also do its thing for newer Toyota Hiace units, and will even convert the rear to fit a pair of face-to-face bench seats that can be converted into a bed.
All of this comes with a cost, of course. Toyota Land Cruiser conversions will set you back as high as ¥3,860,000 (over P1.5 million), and that price tag might even go up depending on the model year of your unit. Unless you’re filthy rich, that isn’t a figure you can just pull out of your bank account just like that.
But hey, if we’re basing things on the images plastered on Renoca’s official website, the cost appears worth it. Hopefully, the company has plans to expand its service to other Toyota models as well.
