Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has once again shaken up the subcompact crossover segment with the launch of the facelifted Toyota Corolla Cross. It’s been just a few years since the hybrid’s arrival, and it’s already gotten a makeover.
For 2024, the Corolla Cross gets fresh new looks and is now only available as a hybrid. But with the same powertrain under the hood, what exactly is new with this crossover? Let’s have a closer look, then.

Variants and prices

Three variants are available at launch, with the base G variant priced at P1.498 million. It becomes the most affordable hybrid in Toyota’s stable, as the hybrid Yaris Cross stickers for P100,000 more. The range tops out a P1.917 million for the GR-S trim.
As far as color options go, the GR-S variant can be had with two-tone finishes that consist of either Emotional Red 2 or a Platinum White Pearl Mica with an Attitude Black Mica top. For the G and V trims, there’s Platinum White Pearl Mica, Celestite Gray Metallic, and Metal Stream Metallic. Some color options come at added costs. You can just check out the price list below for more details.

Exterior

In terms of design, it’s the non-GR-S variants that get the bulk of the exterior changes. Up front, there’s a new grille with a futuristic-looking hexagonal mesh design with a new plastic trim above the badge. Gone are the chrome bits on the old Corolla Cross. The blue badges on these variants also appear brighter and more prominent than before. The headlights also sport a new look, and the halogen lamps on the base G variant have also been replaced with LEDs.
Out back, there aren’t a lot of very noticeable changes. There’s a new taillight pattern, but that’s that.
The GR-S variant, meanwhile, retains its old face, but it does get a new headlight design with new sequential LED turn signals that look rather sleek. And in case you were wondering, the Toyota badges on the GR-S still don’t have the blue highlights.

Interior

The layout of the interior is basically the same—you have your A/C controls with physical buttons and knobs and a small digital display on the dash for the GR-S variant, as well as more buttons on the dash.
There’s a new infotainment system up front as well as a new digital instrument cluster for the V and GR-S variants, but we’ll discuss those later. There aren’t any dimensional changes here, too, so space remains the same all around, but out back the two higher trims also get new power liftgate features with a kick function—a feature that was previously exclusive to the top-of-the-line Corolla Cross.
Engine and specs

As mentioned multiple times before in this article and the previous ones, the Corolla Cross is now only available in the Philippines as a hybrid. This is the old electrified system that comprises a 1.8-liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine paired with a single electric motor that together drive the front wheels and put out 121hp.
No mechanical changes underneath can be found as well. The Corolla Cross still gets MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam at the rear as standard. In the top-spec GR-S, front GR-S MacPherson struts and a rear GR-S torsion beam are fitted. Ventilated front discs and solid rear discs provide stopping power for all trims.
Extra features

As mentioned earlier, there are new displays in the Corolla Cross. There’s the 10-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that’s standard across the stable. The new wireless charger hidden within the center console now also comes as standard, as well as the electronic parking brake that replaces the arguably archaic foot parking brake from the pre-facelift model.
Some features are only available in the top-spec trim, however, like the 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and the panoramic moonroof. There’s also a 360-degree view monitor for this one. The V variant gets a seven-inch TFT instrument cluster, while the G HEV has a 4.2-inch TFT display. Both of these, however, are still new.
Toyota Safety Sense is available for the GR-S and V variants. This suite of safety tech include a pre-collision system (forward-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking), adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, and lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist.
