Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) has finally confirmed that it will be launching the all-new City next week. The subcompact sedan will be officially introduced on October 22, 2020, and HCPI has shared some details about it ahead of the launch.
First off, it appears the all-new Honda City will be packing a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. HCPI hasn’t made any engine specs official, but it has provided a full list of color options and a look at the car’s variants.
None of the variants shared by the company include anything other than ‘1.5,’ so it’s likely we will get something similar if not identical to the 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine capable of 119hp at 6,600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,300rpm recently made available in Malaysia. The local market will also get to choose between an automatic or manual transmission.
Next up, let’s talk about colors. The all-new Honda City will be available in six: Ignite Red Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Tafetta White. Ignite Red Metallic and Platinum White Pearl are new additions to the the lineup.
And finally, interested customers can now place reservations for the all-new City at any authorized Honda dealership in the country. HCPI will also be giving away e-gift certificates worth P5,000 to current Honda owners who can refer buyers to the all-new Honda City. This offer will be available from now until December 31, 2020.
No more turbocharged or hybrid Honda City for us, then? We’d wait for HCPI to reveal the sedan in full before coming to any conclusions. At this point, though, we aren’t holding our breath anymore.
So, are you looking forward to the next-generation Honda City’s local arrival? Let us know in the comments if you plan on checking this out once it hits showrooms.
