There’s at least one Swift we’re confident we’ll be seeing up close soon—and before you get your hopes up, no, it isn’t Taylor.
We’re referring to the next-generation Suzuki Swift. Well, ‘next-generation’ to us, at least. Over in the Indian market, the vehicle is already ‘current,’ as the hatchback is already available for purchase.

The vehicle has an Indian-market starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh. That’s a little under P450,000 converted to our currency, in case you’re curious (though chances are it’ll cost a fair bit more around here after shipping and taxes).

For that price in India, you’re getting an all-new look and a 1.2-liter Z12E gasoline engine capable of 80hp at 5,700rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4,300rpm, paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission.

Suzuki claims the Indian-spec 2024 Swift is pretty efficient, too. The vehicle’s manual variant supposedly sips fuel at up to 24.8km/L, while the automatic can do 25.75km/L.
Buyers in India have five variants to choose from, with the higher-end units boasting niceties like LED headlights, “precision-cut” alloy wheels, an automatic A/C system, wireless charging, USB-C ports, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Perhaps more important, Suzuki has seen it fit to equip the entire range with six airbags.

Suzuki has a lot riding on the all-new Swift. The subcompact hatchback is a hot seller in the Indian market, having amassed a whopping 2.97 million units over four generations. As for the vehicle’s sedan version, the Dzire, reports hint at a late 2024 release, with India (again) getting first dibs.
No word yet on when the all-new Swift will be made available in the Philippine market. We reckon, though, that it’s a matter of when and not if. Will you be waiting for this thing’s local release, or would you rather pounce on a model that will arrive sooner, like the facelifted Honda City Hatch? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
