BYD Australia has just revamped its lineup of Shark 6 DMO pickups—or utes, for that matter. The plug-in hybrid truck now features a Dynamic Cab-Chassis variant, with a blank canvas in the rear half. This will allow owners to attach campers, flatbeds, and other various types of platforms to their Shark 6.
One of the most interesting options available in a dropside tray, which was made in collaboration with Ironman4x4. If you don’t know, Ironman4x4 builds some of the most rugged off-roaders and workhorses Down Under. Its last BYD project was a modified Shark 6 that could carry over 1,100kg.
Buyers in Australia can order the tray directly from their BYD dealer. It’s been designed with eight tie-down points, two lockable storage boxes, and an optional trundle tray. Under the hood lies the familiar DMO system, built around a 1.5-liter turbocharged generator and dual motors.

BYD also unveiled its powerful production Shark yet in the new Performance AWD configuration. With a new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, it bumps up the plug-in hybrid Shark 6 to 469hp and 700Nm of torque. The hybrid ute also boasts up to 3,500kg in braked towing, which is a substantial upgrade from the 2,500kg on other variants.
The Shark Cab-Chassis is now available at Australian dealers, while the Performance model will be coming in May later this year. And while we appreciate the extra horses, the look and practicality of the dropside Shark is very cool. This probably won’t make its way to the Philippines, but perhaps local tuners will find some inspiration here.
