Here it is, boxy-SUV fans: The Ford Bronco is officially in the Philippines to fulfill your childhood Tonka dreams.

Instead of keeping a lid on launch details, Ford Philippines actually revealed basic specs and pricing as early as February, and also opened reservations for the highly anticipated model. We now have a few more details on the latest mount in American brand’s local stable. Here’s everything you need to know about the Ford Bronco.

Variants and prices

Ford Bronco 2024

As announced in February, only one Bronco variant will be available at launch: the Ford Bronco Outer Banks with the Sasquatch package, priced at P4,998,000. Sorry, no Bronco Raptor for us (just yet?), and if the model lineup will be expanded eventually, we do find ourselves wishing for the Heritage Edition, too.

There are six paint jobs to choose from: Eruption GreenRace RedCactus GrayOxford WhiteShadow Black, and Azure Gray. The last option costs an additional P20,000.

Exterior

We have a fair few boxy SUVs on the local market right now, but the Bronco’s LED round headlamps and light signature gives it a distinct appearance—not to mention the model’s name is also emblazoned across the front grille to let everyone know exactly what vehicle you’re driving.

Also standard are the removable roof and doors. Ford says they’re “easy to pull off and store,” and this is one claim we’ll put to the test as soon as we get our hands on a unit. We’ll probably get our hands on one just in time to ring in the rainy season, so it’ll be just as crucial to find out how easily we can get the roof and doors back on.

You’ll want some dimensions, yes? The Bronco is 4,811mm long2,190mm wide (with mirrors), and 1,854mm tall, with a 2,950mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is listed at 292mm, with water-wading capacity at 850mm. We’ve done a size comparo of the Bronco and the Land Rover Defender 110—check it out here.

Interior

Once you’re in the cabin via keyless entry, you’ll be greeted by a bucking Bronco badge on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, which adjusts for both tilt and reach and features an astounding number of buttons. The eight-inch instrument cluster up ahead is fully-digital, and if you’ve been used to seeing the vertically mounted screen on the Everest and the Ranger, you won’t find that here. Instead, a horizontally oriented 12-inch touchscreen serves as the main interface for the SYNC 4 system, which boasts swipe capability, enhanced voice recognition, and Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The buttons and switchgear below control multimedia and A/C. South of the chunky gearshift is the knob for the terrain management system and its GOAT modes...as in ‘goes over any type of terrain.’ We’ll accept that. Anyway, those modes are Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. There’s also a grab bar on the center console for the passenger for when this thing starts to buck. Yee-haw.

Engine and specs

Our Bronco gets a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with 330hp at 5,750rpm and 555Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. All that is delivered to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 4x4 drivetrain with automatic on-demand engagement and electronic-locking front and rear differentials.

You may be wondering about the Sasquatch Package. It’s an actual performance pack geared toward boosting the Bronco’s off-road capabilities, and features what Ford refers to as ‘HOSS’ or ‘high-performance off-road stability suspension,’ bolstered by Bilstein shocks. Also part of the package are 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels with 35-inch mud tires.

Extra features

The Bronco’s steep price of entry does include a wide range of kit. You get the Ford Co-Pilot360 advanced driver assistance, including pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking triggered by pedestrian detection and forward collision warning. There’s also post-impact braking to prevent secondary impacts, blind-spot information with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, evasive steer assist, and various lane-keeping aids.

Apart from front and rear parking sensors, the Bronco has a 360-degree camera, which will come in handy for both urban and off-road use. There are side curtain airbags with rollover sensors on both rows in addition to front and side airbags for the front occupants. AdvanceTrac with roll stability control round out the major safety features.

For plugging in your gadgets, the Bronco comes with both USB-A and USB-C ports as well as the old-school 12V power outlets. Get your road-trip playlist ready because there’s a premium 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system for your enjoyment.

Finally, the Bronco is equipped with FordPass Connect, allowing you to remotely lock or unlock the vehicle, start or stop the engine, activate the last climate control setting, access select vehicle info, and find the location of your vehicle via the FordPass app.
