The 2027 Honda City is inching closer to the Philippines as it is set to launch in Thailand very soon. There, preorders have just opened for both the sedan and hatchback versions, with four variants for each body type.
These will include three hybrid offerings and a base-level turbocharged option—effectively making the lineup predominantly electrified. It’s an interesting strategy, and one we’ve seen before, as Toyota Motor Philippines has done the same with the current Corolla sedan.

If Honda Cars Philippines were to mimic this roster, then the City sedan could end up as its most accessible hybrid offering. It would also introduce electrification to the brand’s best-selling nameplate.

Each hybrid or e:HEV variant utilizes the same powertrain, made up of a 1.5-liter engine and a single electric motor. The former makes 77hp and 127Nm of torque, while the latter churns out 107hp and 253Nm. These should make the hybrid City’s performance similar to that of the HR-V e:HEV crossover.
The base-level S uses a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that makes a heatlhy 121hp and 173Nm. Power here is delivered to the front wheels via CVT, while the hybrids get an e-CVT.

As with the currently available City, all models come standard with Honda Sensing, with the more premium variants getting additional features. Interior finishes and exterior styling also vary among the new City variants, with the RS trims getting the fully loaded package.
With the Toyota Ativ HEV and the BYD Seal 5 DM-i in the market, Honda could use an electrified competitor in the small sedan segment. While the brand has not disclosed if it will bring the hybrid City to the Philippines, we’ll keep our eyes especially peeled for this one.
